NucléAction, a European leader in doors & partition systems for nuclear environments, is developing know-how that responds to all the partitions needs of the main players in the nuclear sector.
Neutron doors
The purpose of NucléAction neutron doors fitted in EPR power plants (third-generation power stations) is to enable professionals to work in a secure manner in the reactor building without disruptions to operations. Over 40 neutron doors of various dimensions and closing devices are fitted in an EPR’s reactor building (for example: Flamanville).
Neutron doors can prevent the spread of two types of radiation in reactor buildings when the reactor is in operation, gamma radiation and neutron radiation. Technical characteristics combining very thick materials enable gamma radiation to be stopped while a special combined neutron-absorbing material enables the spread of neutron-related radiation to be halted.
Due to the space requirement and the weight of these doors (which can weigh dozens of tons), NucléAction neutron doors are motorized and intrinsically designed (unique patented devices) to facilitate maintenance operations, thus enabling the maximum reduction of these operations.
